Holy shit.

I know, i know. This place has been still and quiet for too long already. Blame the lazy things that i’ve somehow bred inside me which is slowly destroying me from inside out. But okay whatever, shit happens. It shows that i’ve got a life outside apart from sticking my face on the internet and writing for the world to pick apart my life and see what’s up. Today, i would like to introduce you to my new found love of Architecture. I’ve never been that fascinated with buildings before not until i’ve started working at Kinokuniya. No, really. I have a colleague who’s not an architect, never had any form of training or such sort but is highly knowledgeable of the subject because she’s in charge of the sector. Now she loves Architecture. She says Architecture helps us see the growth of civilisation or maybe modernisation (if i’m not wrong lah). And as i serve my time working at the bookstore, i’ve managed to take a glance at many interesting architecture books. Books containing designs from famous architects all the way to books specifically categorised under types like ‘Green Building’, ‘Materials (Wood/Mud/Glass/Steel/Concrete)’, ‘Treehouses’, etc. Interesting books actually. I was introduced to a new variety of books apart from the you know, usual reads like novels and comics. Maybe we should all try to get into new books someday. Maybe pick up a few cookbooks? Self-enrichment maybe? Fine Arts? Those are just some quick examples. I think there’s a book for just about anything out there. =)

Okay enough talk already. I wanna get down to business. So on Monday, i went on an unplanned photowalk on my own. I had a backpack full of nonsense that only weighed me down throughout the walk and god, the weather was a little unkind to me and i was just sweating like a pig  all the way. Nonetheless, the walk proved to be a really exciting trip for me. I took turns past streets which i’ve never took before and stumbled upon many new sights i’ve never seen in my entire life. Originally, my plan was to only take pictures of Mandarin Gallery as well as the newly built Pan Pacific Suites buildings only but somehow i got myself walking till Liang Court. So what was my route like? It goes something like this. *clears throat*.

I got down at Somerset. Walked down to Dhoby Ghaut but stopped short before the President’s Istana (i went from the back of Somerset, you know the Singtel Building way), took a turn into Clemenceau Ave (that’s where i found the church along the way), slip myself into Tank Road, Walked along River Valley Rd, turned into Muhd Sultan Rd (Found UE Square here), then i got into Unity Street, crossed over another side of Clemenceau Ave and found myself at the back of Liang Court. And that was it. Dinner at Mc Donald’s by myself (what a geek) and then it was a leisure walk to Central shopping centre and onward to City Hall Mrt. =)

Long walk ey? I have all the intention in the world to embark on a walk like that again soon. Alright then. I’m done talking so here’s a look at the photos i got from that day and 2 from previous days when i just got started with the idea. Have a pleasant day, goodbye!

A soldier salutes you!

So i was called to head down Tampines mall to photograph 2 visual artists who are mad monks in terms of rank when it comes to art, produce live paintings. There were lots of people made up of old and new fans alike and I was there to document them all. The air was filled with that toxic yet aromatic aerosol smell and of course, cigarettes which the two of them can’t get enough of. It’s their MOJO ya’ know. So these two are no other than Clogtwo and Slacsatu. Awesome people. I had a great time hanging out and watching them paint. If you wanna know more of them or in need of their artistic services, then check out these links. Clogtwo & Slacsatu. And so here, I’ve got a slideshow for you. =)

Anws i went to watch My Sister’s Keeper on Sunday. AWESOME FUGGIN SHOW. The whole theatre cried. Yeah. Loud sobs all over. Go watch it ok? Because i’m telling you so. Okay that’s all. small update. hehe.

Bonjour! (hahaha. feeling a lil’ Frenchie right now)

kNeesa is my top model but of course that’s because I don’t have a group of models at my disposal. So occasionally i’ll tell her that i’m bringing Cammie (a hopeless nickname for my camera) along and if i’m lucky, she’d be in an awesome getup for me to feed on her mini narcissistic vain pot hunger hidden deep inside her. Last Wednesday was one of those days. The day started out scorching hot but by the time i met her at Raffles, it was about to rain and that was after a little mishap which happened along the way. It’s an uncommon mishap but well..shit happens, right? It was one of those days where you’re supposed to meet at a specific place but because the significant other came earlier, he/she went about to roam around the area and because the exits to the train station numbered to about 4 and the fact that you aren’t all too familiar with the place, you kinda got yourself lost while trying to meet. It was funny but ah well, in order to solve the problem we just backtracked our ass all the way back to the train station. =)

So lunch was at Burger King. Somehow i’m always eating there each time i step foot on Raffles Place, WTH HAVE YOU DONE TO ME BURGERKING?! And although i traveled to the same place where the SNB & iLoike shoots were held, this time round i wanted to capture the colorful vintage buildings there in my background. Walking about the place got me some pretty nice ones. A few patterns here and a buncha colorful buildings there. It was good. Along the way i stumbled upon some fancy toy store which got me drooling over many ginormous Transformers action figures. Yeah i said it, GINORMOUS. Don’t know where i got it from. Anyways we took lots of pictures and ended the day with a cup of Chocolate Cream Chip at Starbucks Paragon and made our way home after that…Happily Ever After.

Here, i’ve got a cheap slideshow made of the photos that i got. Got about 10 favourites. They’re not high-res and plus i couldn’t get a proper gallery going here because WORDPRESS F*CKING SUCKS and that’s because you’re only allowed to create 1 gallery and that’s it. WTF?! Okay so, i’ll hit you up with a link to better hi-res photos soon. In the meantime, enjoy the slideshow!

Oh btw! I made an amatuer looking Fashion Lookbook outta this. Just a mini 5 page pdf document. Take a look at it if you want (click here). I’m tryna figure out how to compress the size right now. Hmmmm..

Hey you.

golden nugget

golden nugget

You know…have you ever borrowed a book from the library and at the back of your mind you wish that in between the pages you’d find some sort of a golden nugget? Like a slip of note or photo or something from the previous reader? Usually the things i find are just receipt slips but last night in one of the books that i borrowed i came across something really surprising. This golden nugget was hidden under the cover sleeve of the book. You wanna know what i found? A b&w photograph of a lady wrapped in a small ziplock with a few strips of black tape onnit. Ziplock. Girl. Strips of black tape. They all can only mean one thing, the previous reader must have been an NS man. Yeah, been there done that. If there’s anything in common about soldiers, it’d be that we always keep a handy photograph of our loved ones with us. You’ve seen it before haven’t you? In the war movies and such. These things will remain forever. Why keep a photo of your gf with you? Because it makes days in which you’ve just been through shit alot easier. It keeps you going. It fills you with happy thoughts which are never too far away and eases your pain away. And the fact that it was wrapped in a small ziplock meant that he brought it along with him wherever he went. ESPECIALLY, the jungle trainings. When you’re out there in the woods with nothing but sweat and dirt on you..having a photo of your beloved takes you away from that uncomfortable spot. Yeah us boys go through that shit in the Army. Fuck, i’ve had my fair share of being in the jungle and wanting to give up. I’ve had to go to Thailand on a Free Navigation quest, walked over 250KM with 4 other friends and not being all too familiar with the people and the surroundings. When you’re stuck with something like that, all you think about are the people at home and then you’ll find yourself pushing on and on and on. It’s nice to be back home. =)

So today then, i had another surprise! Someone from flickr sent me a mail.

Subject: RESPECT

“Dude, your pictures really inspire me man. What I love about the pictures are that,1st of all, you’re Singaporean and many pictures are taken in Singapore so it kinda shows that you dont have to go far to get a good picture. 2ndly,I love how you compose your shots and the perspective you have when shooting.Awesome and simply creative.Keep up the great work dude!Hope to see more! Peace!”

Reading that on a Saturday morning really made my day. It’s always nice to know that someone out there likes the photograph you took. I sent a thank you reply to him and i couldn’t stop smiling ever since then. Pretty nice breakfast eh? hahaha. So that’s all i’ve got for today. It’s really been a while since i last posted something here but i will occasionally update just to you know let off a few steam here and there. I hope you’ll have good days ahead!

holy ish. is that cool or what?

So, i had a quick shoot for iLoike tees together with Miss MANIMANI and Miss Sheezapanda. Awesome shoot at an awesome place with awesome people. Lots of happy smiles and laughs and poses going on for the day. Miss manimani was kind enough to treat us Burger King (Oh. my favourite) and sponsored us such wonderful tees. They’re comfortable and catchy. I really think it’s worth wearing on days when you know, you’re feeling like you’d like to get out there and make yourself stand out in the public. Like you know..times when you wanna be at the bus stop..standing there, waiting for your bus and there’s lots of people and you want them to take notice of you and your what you’re wearing. Yeah. I believe i’m an Attention Whore like that. hahaha. So, here’s are some favourites of the shoot and if you’d like to view more, head on down to my facebook. We took a total of 130 photos..but i dont think i’d wanna post them all. Who the ish would wanna browse through all of ém!

So that’s it. If you’d like to view more, click here. And ouh if you’re done and you’d like to read on about something else, i’ve got something that might tickle your funny bone. Marge Simpon in Playboy. WHAT?! Until next time people!
