Holy shit.
I know, i know. This place has been still and quiet for too long already. Blame the lazy things that i’ve somehow bred inside me which is slowly destroying me from inside out. But okay whatever, shit happens. It shows that i’ve got a life outside apart from sticking my face on the internet and writing for the world to pick apart my life and see what’s up. Today, i would like to introduce you to my new found love of Architecture. I’ve never been that fascinated with buildings before not until i’ve started working at Kinokuniya. No, really. I have a colleague who’s not an architect, never had any form of training or such sort but is highly knowledgeable of the subject because she’s in charge of the sector. Now she loves Architecture. She says Architecture helps us see the growth of civilisation or maybe modernisation (if i’m not wrong lah). And as i serve my time working at the bookstore, i’ve managed to take a glance at many interesting architecture books. Books containing designs from famous architects all the way to books specifically categorised under types like ‘Green Building’, ‘Materials (Wood/Mud/Glass/Steel/Concrete)’, ‘Treehouses’, etc. Interesting books actually. I was introduced to a new variety of books apart from the you know, usual reads like novels and comics. Maybe we should all try to get into new books someday. Maybe pick up a few cookbooks? Self-enrichment maybe? Fine Arts? Those are just some quick examples. I think there’s a book for just about anything out there. =)
Okay enough talk already. I wanna get down to business. So on Monday, i went on an unplanned photowalk on my own. I had a backpack full of nonsense that only weighed me down throughout the walk and god, the weather was a little unkind to me and i was just sweating like a pig all the way. Nonetheless, the walk proved to be a really exciting trip for me. I took turns past streets which i’ve never took before and stumbled upon many new sights i’ve never seen in my entire life. Originally, my plan was to only take pictures of Mandarin Gallery as well as the newly built Pan Pacific Suites buildings only but somehow i got myself walking till Liang Court. So what was my route like? It goes something like this. *clears throat*.
I got down at Somerset. Walked down to Dhoby Ghaut but stopped short before the President’s Istana (i went from the back of Somerset, you know the Singtel Building way), took a turn into Clemenceau Ave (that’s where i found the church along the way), slip myself into Tank Road, Walked along River Valley Rd, turned into Muhd Sultan Rd (Found UE Square here), then i got into Unity Street, crossed over another side of Clemenceau Ave and found myself at the back of Liang Court. And that was it. Dinner at Mc Donald’s by myself (what a geek) and then it was a leisure walk to Central shopping centre and onward to City Hall Mrt. =)
Long walk ey? I have all the intention in the world to embark on a walk like that again soon. Alright then. I’m done talking so here’s a look at the photos i got from that day and 2 from previous days when i just got started with the idea. Have a pleasant day, goodbye!
